Sunglasses are one of those things people accidentally leave behind all the time. Having said that, you don\u2019t expect them to vanish seconds after you set them down at a restaurant.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s what one woman claims happened at The Oasis on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas<\/a>.<\/p>\n In a video that got over 36,400 views, TikTok creator Mariana (@mariana_yvette) implies that the restaurant\u2019s staff might have had something to do with the disappearance.<\/p>\n What Happened At The Oasis? <\/p>\n \u201cChat, you will not just believe what happened to me,\u201d Mariana starts. \u201cWe just went to The Oasis in Austin, Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n Mariana says she and her friend went there for dinner and pictures. After taking photos, they sat down in the bar area because they wanted to watch the game.<\/p>\n But according to Mariana, service was slow.<\/p>\n \u201cThey took too long to wait on us,\u201d she says. \u201cWe were there for probably, I don\u2019t know, 20 minutes, just sitting there, waiting to even get a drink order in.\u201d<\/p>\n At some point, Mariana says she put her white Prada sunglasses down.<\/p>\n Then they decided to leave and get dinner somewhere else.<\/p>\n By the time they were walking out, Mariana says she realized her sunglasses were gone.<\/p>\n \u201cWithin seconds,\u201d she says. \u201cI mean, literally, they\u2019re gone.\u201d<\/p>\n Mariana says she asked for a manager and wanted to know whether there was a camera that could be checked.<\/p>\n \u201cCan you pull up?\u201d she recalls asking.<\/p>\n According to Mariana, the response immediately felt off.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, um, yeah, yeah, yeah. The manager will have to come tomorrow,\u2019\u201d she says. \u201cOr, like, the operations manager, something like, he\u2019ll have to come tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n Then, as the conversation continued, Mariana says the story changed.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s like, \u2018Oh, well, he doesn\u2019t even come in tomorrow, but maybe he\u2019ll come in tomorrow for this,\u2019\u201d she says.<\/p>\n At the end of the video, she directly calls on the manager to check the camera footage.<\/p>\n \u201cTom, please review the camera footage and find my glasses or find who stole my sunglasses,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n She Says A Manager Called Her Back <\/p>\n In an update<\/a>, Mariana says she did get a call back the next day. However, she says she is not sure who called her because he did not disclose his name.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said he was one of the managers and that he reviewed the camera footage and that he did not find anything on the camera footage regarding my glasses,\u201d Mariana says.<\/p>\n She says the glasses also were not turned into lost and found.<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019re nowhere to be found,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n According to Mariana, the manager first asked whether she had found the glasses herself.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, of course,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n At that point, Mariana says she was cutting her losses. However, she had one recommendation for anyone planning to eat at The Oasis.<\/p>\n \u201cI highly recommend going to my original video,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n She then shows one of the comments, which reads, \u201cGoing to the Oasis to eat was your first mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n What Do Commenters Say? <\/p>\n In the comments, many viewers were not exactly shocked to see The Oasis mentioned.<\/p>\n \u201cAs soon as I read the oasis, my eyes rolled,\u201d one commenter wrote. \u201cThey have the worst service that I have ever experienced and their food is absolutely not worth it like people need to realize if you go to the oasis you\u2019re literally just going to look for the view the restaurant itself the food. The service are all absolutely horrible.\u201d<\/p>\n Another viewer said the same thing in fewer words.<\/p>\n \u201cThe food sucks there, but the view is amazing,\u201d they wrote.<\/p>\n Someone else recommended skipping the restaurant side.<\/p>\n \u201cOnly ever go to the Oasis Brewery, never the Oasis restaurant,\u201d they said. \u201cSame views, but everything else is so much better.\u201d<\/p>\n Have Other Oasis On Lake Travis Patrons Shared Similar Stories? <\/p>\n Mariana was not the only person to claim something valuable went missing at The Oasis.<\/p>\n One commenter on her video said, \u201cThis isn\u2019t to one up or belittle your situation just to inform\u2026 my Louis Vuitton bag and Versace sunglasses were stolen there too and I went through the same process.\u201d<\/p>\n The commenter added that they liked the brewery section better, but warned people to watch their belongings.<\/p>\n A TripAdvisor reviewer also warned<\/a> other guests not to leave valuables on the table. According to that person, a cell phone was stolen from their table early in the evening. They said the phone was eventually found inside the restaurant after a \u201cLONG search\u201d because the locator app was turned on.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, moral of the story is DO NOT LEAVE PHONE OR ANY VALUABLES ON THE TABLE,\u201d the reviewer wrote.<\/p>\n A Yelp reviewer also described<\/a> an issue after hosting a wedding there. The reviewer said they hired DigiKnot cameras for guests to take photos and ordered 10 cameras, but ended up with nine.<\/p>\n \u201cI KNOW no one from my small wedding would steal a camera,\u201d the reviewer wrote.<\/p>\n The reviewer said photos from the missing camera appeared to show employees in the catering office, and they believed someone who worked there either took it or forgot to return it.
