HOUSTON \u2013 A Houston-area nonprofit is inviting people around globe to hop on the courts and help a cause: stop childhood bullying.<\/p>\n
Block the Bully is the nonprofit hosting the inaugural World Volleyball Day on July 7, founded by Houston native Steven Lockhardt.<\/p>\n
Lockhardt said that like many other children, he faced bullying throughout his entire childhood. He said that volleyball was the main outlet that got him through it.<\/p>\n
\u201cVolleyball changed my life,\u201d Lockhardt said. \u201cIt gave me confidence when I needed it most. It gave me friendships and a place where I felt accepted. World Volleyball Day is about helping create that same feeling for others.\u201d<\/p>\n
BTB says they are mirroring the event Race for the Cure, in hopes that World Volleyball Day will become the call to action to its cause.<\/p>\n
The organization invites anyone to participate with simple instructions: play volleyball anywhere.<\/p>\n
The idea is to create a worldwide volleyball tradition to promote confidence, inclusion and kindness while dismantling bullying.<\/p>\n
Houston has four official locations where you can join the movement with others.<\/p>\n
