{"id":364391,"date":"2026-07-07T20:16:11","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T20:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/364391\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T20:16:11","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T20:16:11","slug":"former-texas-tech-professor-pleads-guilty-to-running-fentanyl-trafficking-conspiracy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/364391\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Texas Tech professor pleads guilty to running fentanyl trafficking conspiracy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; A former Texas Tech University marketing and supply chain management professor plead guilty to his role in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould announced<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">51-year-old Daniel Taylor was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2026\/02\/20\/texas-tech-professor-charged-federal-fentanyl-distribution-conspiracy\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2026\/02\/20\/texas-tech-professor-charged-federal-fentanyl-distribution-conspiracy\/\">federally charged in February 2026 with intent to distribute fentanyl<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Taylor was employed as an assistant professor of marketing and supply chain management at the Texas Tech University Rawls College of Business. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In total, Taylor admitted to causing at least eight overdoses on fentanyl power he had supplied.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Taylor remains in federal custody pending sentencing before United States District Judge James Wesley Hendrix. The date for the sentencing hearing is currently pending. Taylor faces a statutory maximum sentence of 40 years in federal prison and a $5,000,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
