{"id":365224,"date":"2026-07-08T11:24:45","date_gmt":"2026-07-08T11:24:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/365224\/"},"modified":"2026-07-08T11:24:45","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T11:24:45","slug":"celebrity-loved-austin-tex-mex-spot-gets-100k-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/365224\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrity-loved Austin Tex-Mex spot gets $100K upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A popular longstanding\u00a0Tex-Mex restaurant, best known as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/food\/article\/matts-el-rancho-austin-21016968.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">a hotbed for A-list\u00a0Hollywood stars<\/a>, is planning a massive upgrade to its one and only Central Texas location this year. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mattselrancho.com\/history\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Matt&#8217;s El Rancho<\/a> in Austin will be getting a new $100,000 addition to better serve its growing list of regular and celebrity\u00a0customers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The scope of work for the project includes adding a 781-square-foot roofed cover over its existing outdoor dining patio area. Founded in 1952 by owners Matt and Janie Martinez, Matt&#8217;s El Rancho has been a community staple in Austin serving locals and tourists alike for decades.<\/p>\n<p>Even back in the early 1960s, it\u2019s said that President Lyndon B. Johnson had Janie\u2019s famous chiles rellenos delivered by jet to D.C. Since then, the\u00a0Tex-Mex spot has hosted dozens of big-names on their trips to Texas&#8217; Capital City including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/food\/article\/will-ferrell-austin-19786125.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Will Ferrell<\/a>, Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, Serena Williams and, of course, Austin-based actor\u00a0Matthew McConaughey.<\/p>\n<p>Some of Matt&#8217;s most signature dishes on the restaurant&#8217;s menu include enchiladas, tacos, sizzling fajitas and seafood platters.
