KEMAH, Texas \u2014 A 7’3″ Texas police recruit<\/a> who went viral for his height has been sworn in as a part of the Kemah Police Department\u2019s next batch of officers, the department announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jordan Wilmore initially joined the department\u2019s police academy in August 2025. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always had a desire and a goal to become a police officer,\u201d Wilmore told FOX 26<\/a> at the time. \u201cI honestly just like to serve the community and help out the ones that are in need, and need my help as well \u2026 I\u2019ve always wanted to do this.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilmore received a visit and sponsorship support from Shaquille O\u2019Neal in December after failing on his first attempt to pass the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement\u2019s licensing exam by one point. <\/p>\n

\u201cI want him to really focus on this because it\u2019s commendable that a kid wants to be an officer,\u201d O\u2019Neal told KHOU<\/a> at the time. \u201cI love cops. They made me who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wilmore enrolled in another academy class and successfully passed the exam and was officially sworn in as a Kemah Police officer on July 7.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so excited for him…\u201d Chief Raymond Garivey said in a Facebook post. \u201cCongratulations Jordan!\u201d<\/p>\n
