White Medical Center-Lakeway ending its labor and delivery services that same month, said Dr. Melanie Belt, Chief OB\/GYN Officer at Texas Children\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>The background<\/p>\n<p>In June, Baylor Scott &amp; White Medical Center-Lakeway halted labor and delivery services, including six labor and delivery rooms and 18 postpartum beds, due to demographic shifts in the Lakeway area, where population growth is largely occurring among adults age 65 and older, according to a statement from Baylor Scott &amp; White and previous reporting from <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-travis-westlake\/healthcare\/baylor-scott-white-lakeway-to-end-labor-and-delivery-services-june-28\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Community Impact<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, Belt believes there is still a need for OB\/GYN care in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTexas Children\u2019s believes that there still needs to be a clinic there to service that growing population,\u201d Belt said. \u201cIf they have abnormal bleeding or pelvic pain or anything like that &#8230; they would have to leave their community to receive care.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The details<\/p>\n<p>Texas Children\u2019s Pavilion for Women opened in <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-travis-westlake\/healthcare\/texas-childrens-pavilion-for-women-plans-2026-opening-in-lakeway\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">January<\/a> and began providing OB\/GYN services including annual exams, prenatal care, menopausal therapy, birth control, care for endometriosis, and other obstetrical and gynecological treatments in June.<\/p>\n<p>Although patients can receive prenatal care at the Lakeway location, deliveries will be performed at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texaschildrens.org\/locations\/texas-childrens-pediatrics\/austin-campus\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Children\u2019s Pediatrics<\/a> in north Austin.<\/p>\n<p>What they\u2019re saying<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPatients can expect a high standard of care,\u201d Belt said. \u201cIt\u2019s a state-of-the-art facility that we\u2019ve opened. &#8230;
