EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Families in El Paso will have a chance to celebrate \u201cSummerween\u201d this week as El Paso Public Libraries hosts a free, Halloween-themed luau aimed at connecting residents with library programs and services.<\/p>\n
The Summerween Spooky Luau event will be held at the Jose Cisneros Branck Library this Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. <\/p>\n
According to the El Paso Public Libraries, the event will include a costume contest, food trucks, and vendors, and the first 300 guests will also receive free library merchandise.<\/p>\n
“It’s a combination of summer and Halloween. So we’re going to have a little festival. We’re gonna have vendors, we have exhibitors, we’re actually going to show a movie, we’ll have giveaways, so it’s just a free event all around for the community,” said Erika Fibela of El Paso Public Libraries. <\/p>\n
Organizers said events like this help introduce the community to resources available through the library system.<\/p>\n
\u201cBringing these big events to the community, free events to the community, provides us the opportunity to say, ‘hey, we have a high school diploma program, we also have knitting classes, ‘ so we show them all of our services when providing these big events,\u201d Fibela said.<\/p>\n
