EL PASO, TEXAS \u2014 A deadly overnight fire at the Johnson Apartments in Central El Paso left one woman dead and another resident displaced as investigators worked to determine what sparked the blaze.<\/p>\n
El Paso Fire investigators remain on scene as they work to find out what led to the fire. <\/p>\n
A spokesperson with the department said a woman in her 50s died in the fire.<\/p>\n
Early investigation showed the fire started in one of the apartment units and spread into a second unit, the spokesperson said. <\/p>\n
Another resident was displaced, and the Red Cross was called to assist.<\/p>\n
The call came in just after 11 p.m. for reports of a a more serious working fire and it was put out within 30 minutes.<\/p>\n
Investigators are also looking into a call earlier in the day in front of the apartments regarding a vehicle fire. <\/p>\n
\u201cOur investigators are obviously conducting the investigation to see if there’s any connection there,\u201d said Nina Brack, a fire official with the department.<\/p>\n
Crews were still working to determine the cause of the fire. <\/p>\n
Authorities had not said how long the area would remain closed off.<\/p>\n
