Here are 10 locations ranked by Get My Boat for 2026:<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/tpwd.texas.gov\/regulations\/outdoor-annual\/boating\/mandatory-boater-education-requirements#:~:text=Successful%20completion%20of%20a%20TPWD,over%2014%20feet%20in%20length.\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Parks and Wildlife<\/a>, anyone born on or after Sept. 1, 1993, must complete boater education training.\u00a0While it\u2019s not required for those born before that date, it\u2019s recommended to take the training.<\/p>\n<p>Completion of this training allows a user to operate a vessel powered by a motor of more than 15 horsepower or a windblown vessel over 14 feet in length.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Texas Parks and Wildlife says people convicted of certain boating violations must complete an approved boater education course and pay a fine.<\/p>\n<p>Those violations include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Game wardens and marine safety officers can stop boats to check for required safety equipment. Failing to carry required gear can result in a citation.<\/p>\n<p>In the boat, you must have:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yes. Texas&#8217; open container law for motor vehicles does not apply to boats, so passengers may legally possess open alcoholic beverages while on the water.<\/p>\n<p>However, operating a motorized boat while intoxicated is illegal under Texas law.<\/p>\n<p>Yes. According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, a person arrested for operating a watercraft with an engine rated at 50 horsepower or more while intoxicated is subject to an automatic driver&#8217;s license suspension.<\/p>\n<p>Refusing to provide a breath or blood specimen can also result in a license suspension.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Thinking about getting on a boat soon?
