{"id":372142,"date":"2026-07-14T05:10:26","date_gmt":"2026-07-14T05:10:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/372142\/"},"modified":"2026-07-14T05:10:26","modified_gmt":"2026-07-14T05:10:26","slug":"former-texas-head-coach-tom-herman-lands-new-coaching-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/372142\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Texas Head Coach Tom Herman Lands New Coaching Job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6c\">Former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/college\/texas\/football\/the-one-texas-player-the-longhorns-simply-can-t-afford-to-lose-in-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Texas Longhorns<\/a> head coach Tom Herman spent four seasons at the helm in Austin where he posted a 32-18 record and went 4-0 in bowl games, including the 2019 Sugar Bowl.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6f\">However, the program moved on from Herman in 2021 to make way for Steve Sarkisian, and it&#8217;s clear the decision was the right one for Texas. The Longhorns went from above-average results with Herman to legit championship contention under Sarkisian. Since his time at Texas, Herman has bounced around in various roles, which included being the head coach at Florida Atlantic and an offensive analyst in the NFL with the Chicago Bears along with holding a media role with CBS Sports Network.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6i\">But now, Herman is headed back to college football to join a prominent coaching staff in the ACC.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Herman Joining Florida State Coaching Staff<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/01kxek9s50vefc86qd5s.jpg\" alt=\"Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman\" title=\"Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman\" width=\"360\" height=\"360\" class=\"undefined w-full w-full blur-[5px]\" q:id=\"6v\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Texas Longhorns head coach Tom Herman watches his team play the Iowa State Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium.  | USA TODAY Sports<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6z\">Herman is joining the Florida State coaching staff for the 2026 campaign, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/On3\/status\/2076764974274203864?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">per reports Monday from On3.<\/a> The Seminoles are coming off a second straight losing season under head coach Mike Norvell, so adding an experienced name like Herman could play a small part in getting Florida State back to its elite standards.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"72\">This means that Herman will now be joining forces with former Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner, who transferred to Florida State this offseason after three years with the Longhorns.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"75\">Given Herman&#8217;s experience with the offensive side of the ball, it&#8217;s likely he could work closely with Wisner this upcoming season. Florida State also added other transfers like offensive linemen Xavier Chaplin (Auburn) and Chimdia Nwaiwu (Stephen F.
