College sports are in a brief hiatus before late summer workouts to get ready for fall seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But everyone wants to make the postseason for a chance to win the national title and no one knows that better than former Alabama coach Nick Saban.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The seven-time national champion spoke to Congress in June<\/a> about the need for legislation to help regulate NIL rules in college.\u00a0<\/p>\n “It’s become an arms race of who spends the most and whose got the best chance to win,” Saban said.\u00a0<\/p>\n According to previous\u00a0reporting<\/a> from the American-Statesman<\/a>, in 2025 Texas football made $106.7 million of the entire athletic department’s $353 million in\u00a0revenue despite losing nearly $23.3 million<\/a> due to the change in conferences (Texas did not receive it’s full payout while it transitioned from Big 12 to SEC). The reporting also noted that revenue sharing with student-athletes was about $3 million dollars but is expected to increase to $20 million in 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n The reason for the sharp increase is because the House Settlement\u00a0decision<\/a> went into effect towards the end of the fiscal year.\u00a0<\/p>\n So if Saban says its an “arms race” of who can spend the most to win, how does Texas compare to other programs around the country?\u00a0<\/p>\n Well, the Longhorns are at the top of the food-chain.\u00a0<\/p>\n
