U.S. Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-Texas) and Tarrant County Judge Tim O\u2019Hare (R) paid tribute to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) after his sudden death, while Van Duyne condemned what she called \u201cvile and disgusting attacks\u201d celebrating the senator\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n
As previously reported<\/a> by The Dallas Express, Graham died Saturday evening after a brief and sudden illness, according to a statement from his office. He was 71.<\/p>\n Preliminary findings<\/a> later attributed his death to an aortic dissection due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia has not issued a final death certificate.<\/p>\n Van Duyne recalls Graham\u2019s campaign support<\/p>\n Van Duyne, whose district<\/a> includes portions of Dallas and Tarrant counties, described the news as shocking in a Facebook<\/a> post.<\/p>\n \u201cLike the rest of my colleagues in Congress, I awoke this morning to the shocking news of Lindsey Graham\u2019s sudden, and suspicious, passing,\u201d Van Duyne wrote.<\/p>\n Van Duyne did not explain why she described Graham\u2019s death as \u201csuspicious.\u201d She said Graham supported her during her first campaign and helped promote her candidacy.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Senate will have a glaring hole that no single person will be able to fill,\u201d Van Duyne wrote.<\/p>\n She also condemned online reactions to Graham\u2019s death.<\/p>\n \u201cAs shocking as Sen. Graham\u2019s passing has been, so too have the vile and disgusting attacks celebrating his death. I will have more to say on this later.\u201d<\/p>\n
