LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A 67-year-old woman remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition after a two-vehicle crash at a busy Las Cruces intersection Tuesday morning, Las Cruces police said.<\/p>\n
According to the Las Cruces Police Department, shortly before 9 a.m. on Tuesday, officers and fire personnel were dispatched to a reported crash at the intersection of El Paseo Road and Farney Lane.<\/p>\n
Police said the 67-year-old woman, who was driving a Nissan Juke, was initially trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extracted by Las Cruces firefighters. <\/p>\n
She was then taken to a Las Cruces hospital and later airlifted in critical condition to University Medical Center of El Paso, where she remains hospitalized.<\/p>\n
Traffic investigators said the Nissan Juke was traveling west on Farney Lane and crossing El Paseo Road when it was struck broadside by a southbound Honda Accord driven by a 20-year-old woman. <\/p>\n
The Honda driver was also taken to a local hospital with relatively minor injuries.<\/p>\n
According to police, preliminary information indicates one of the vehicles may have entered the intersection on a red light. <\/p>\n
Investigators also determined the 67-year-old Nissan driver was not wearing a seat belt, which police said likely contributed to her injuries.<\/p>\n
No arrests have been made as police said the investigation remains ongoing. <\/p>\n
