Joshua Bartlett remembered 5 years after he was killed during standoff in Levelland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; Five years ago <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2022\/07\/12\/honoring-sgt-bartlett-one-year-later-lubbock-co-sheriff-reveals-he-died-saving-others-line-fire\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2022\/07\/12\/honoring-sgt-bartlett-one-year-later-lubbock-co-sheriff-reveals-he-died-saving-others-line-fire\/\">Sergeant Joshua Bartlett was killed in the line of duty during a SWAT standoff in Levelland<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cDeputies who had the honor of working with him remember him fondly,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1342749107966737&amp;set=a.189263699981956\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo\/?fbid=1342749107966737&amp;set=a.189263699981956\">the Lubbock County Sheriff\u2019s Office said<\/a>. \u201cSgt. Bartlett was a U.S. Army veteran and served as the Commander of Lubbock County\u2019s Regional SWAT team.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Five other officers were injured in the hours-long standoff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Omar Soto-Chavira is accused of barricading himself in a home and actively shooting at law enforcement and first responders as they arrived. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Soto-Chavira is charged with capital murder and attempted capital murder. His trial is still pending. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In 2024, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2024\/05\/13\/man-accused-killing-sgt-josh-bartlett-stand-trial-lubbock\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kcbd.com\/2024\/05\/13\/man-accused-killing-sgt-josh-bartlett-stand-trial-lubbock\/\">a judge approved a change of venue to Lubbock County<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Lubbock County Sheriff\u2019s Office posted in remembrance of Sgt.
