The Riot Comedy Club is preparing to open the doors to its new home this August after closing its former location in Rudyard’s earlier this summer.<\/p>\n
What’s changing?<\/p>\n
The venue change involves moving the comedy club into a new purpose-built, 150-seat venue along Washington Avenue, according to a July 9 news release.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis wasn\u2019t an easy decision, but as we\u2019ve grown, it became clear we needed a space that fully delivers the experience we want to give our guests, our comedians and our staff,\u201d Founder Brian Gendron said. \u201cWe\u2019re not just changing locations\u2014we\u2019re building a dedicated venue for comedy that supports Houston\u2019s growing scene, bringing together live shows, hospitality and an expanded food and beverage program.\u201d<\/p>\n
Designed specifically for comedy, the new 4,700-square-foot building features a custom showroom, more parking, a full food and beverage service, a daytime coffee shop and cafe, a full evening bar and is ADA accessible.<\/p>\n
\u201cHouston has an exciting, emerging and very underrated comedy scene, and we want to be the place that helps it grow,\u201d Gendron said. \u201cWe\u2019re committed to building a venue where local comedians can develop, national acts want to stop and audiences can be part of something that\u2019s genuinely good for this city.\u201d<\/p>\n

The new venue is expected to open in August, with a grand opening event anticipated to be announced in a few weeks, per the release. The club is temporarily closed until the new opening date.<\/p>\n
