{"id":374371,"date":"2026-07-15T18:43:22","date_gmt":"2026-07-15T18:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/374371\/"},"modified":"2026-07-15T18:43:22","modified_gmt":"2026-07-15T18:43:22","slug":"inmate-tries-to-escape-through-dallas-hospital-ceiling-surrenders-after-hearing-k-9-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/374371\/","title":{"rendered":"Inmate Tries To Escape Through Dallas Hospital Ceiling, Surrenders After Hearing K-9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n                                    Methodist Charlton Medical Center | Image by Methodist Charlton Medical Center\/website                                <\/p>\n<p>Dallas County Inmate Climbs Into Hospital Ceiling, Surrenders After Hearing K-9<\/p>\n<p>A Dallas County inmate accused of aggravated robbery surrendered Sunday after authorities said the 36-year-old climbed into the ceiling above a hospital restroom in an attempt to escape custody.<\/p>\n<p>The July 12 incident occurred at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.methodisthealthsystem.org\/methodist-charlton-medical-center\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Methodist<\/a> Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, where the inmate was receiving treatment while wearing leg restraints and under a deputy\u2019s supervision, according to a public <a href=\"https:\/\/www.keranews.org\/news\/2026-07-14\/dallas-county-inmate-tried-to-escape-custody-while-at-a-hospital\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">statement<\/a> from Dallas County Sheriff\u2019s Office spokesperson Doug Sisk.<\/p>\n<p>After the inmate asked to use the restroom, a deputy escorted the person there.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile inside the restroom, the inmate removed a ceiling tile and climbed into the ceiling in an attempt to escape custody,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities notified Methodist Hospital Police after discovering the inmate was missing. Dallas police officers and a DeSoto Police Department K-9 unit also responded.<\/p>\n<p>The sheriff\u2019s office has not disclosed the inmate\u2019s name, sex, reason for hospitalization, how long the person remained in the ceiling or how much time elapsed before recapture.
