The City Magazine brought the excitement to downtown El Paso for its quarterly launch party and cover reveal, unveiling a July issue dedicated to the medical professionals caring for families across the Borderland.<\/p>\n
The sponsored Daytime segment was filmed at The Plaza Hotel Pioneer Park, where guests gathered for an evening celebrating the magazine\u2019s newest issue and the local doctors featured inside. The event was more than a magazine launch. It was a spotlight on the people helping shape the future of medicine in El Paso.<\/p>\n
Veronica Nevarez said The City Magazine hosts launch parties for each cover as part of a larger reveal, and this issue carried special meaning.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe magazine has done launch parties for every cover as a big reveal,\u201d Nevarez said. \u201cThis issue is extra special.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nevarez said the July issue focuses on the medical community because of the impact doctors and health care professionals continue to make across the city.<\/p>\n
\u201cBottom line, they\u2019re worth being recognized for what they do for the community,\u201d Nevarez said. \u201cThis issue is going to essentially focus on how our medical professionals are really shaping the future of medicine in El Paso.\u201d<\/p>\n
The issue features Dr. Jose D. Burgos on the cover. Burgos said the recognition came as a surprise, but also as a meaningful reminder that the work physicians do each day is noticed by the community they serve.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was actually surprised and honored to be recognized in this medical issue,\u201d Burgos said. \u201cPhysicians don\u2019t really do things for recognition. We do things because we really want to make a difference in the lives of individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n
For Burgos, the honor reflects more than one person\u2019s career. It reflects years of work rooted in service, connection and community building.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is always amazing to realize that people appreciate what you do day by day, because it\u2019s a labor of love,\u201d Burgos said. \u201cWe don\u2019t build downtown. We don\u2019t build these structures. We build community. And the fact that people notice that I\u2019ve been building this community for the past 20 years is incredible. I\u2019m just honored to be part of this.\u201d<\/p>\n
The celebration also featured Dr. Estephan Garcia of El Paso Children\u2019s Hospital, who said he recently retired from the military after 18 years caring for soldiers at Fort Bliss. He has since joined El Paso Children\u2019s Hospital and Texas Tech, giving him a new opportunity to serve families throughout the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has given us the opportunity to kind of let the community know that although I\u2019ve been here, I\u2019m now available to see everybody in the community,\u201d Garcia said.<\/p>\n
Garcia said El Paso Children\u2019s Hospital has also expanded its pediatric orthopedic care with two fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeons recruited from outside the area.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen it comes to orthopedic conditions for your kids, there\u2019s really nothing that we can\u2019t treat,\u201d Garcia said.<\/p>\n
The evening wrapped with plenty of energy, celebration and pride as The City Magazine revealed its July cover and honored some of the doctors featured in the issue.<\/p>\n
The July issue of The City Magazine is available online at thecityep.com, and copies can also be picked up at local Walgreens locations in El Paso.<\/p>\n
