Abbott issued a disaster declaration for nearly 60 counties after a round of catastrophic flash floods that left at least two people dead. That number could rise, especially with reports from witnesses who saw headlights floating down the Guadalupe River overnight. &#8220;It was terrifying.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">In Comfort, which is about 50 miles north of San Antonio, a red dye was seen floating in the flood waters. Officials said the dye was not toxic.<\/p>\n<p>  Water rescues <\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Texas Game Wardens provided body camera footage of a dramatic aerial rescue of a young girl, her family and two dogs from their flooded house in Kerrville.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Another angle from an officer&#8217;s body camera in the helicopter shows the rescue from above.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Helicopters were seen making rescues across Central and South Texas.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">On Wednesday, a rescuer received a high five from a child who was rescued from the floodwaters.<\/p>\n<p>  Texas Game Wardens <\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">The Texas Game Wardens provided several images of their efforts to save lives during Thursday&#8217;s flooding.<\/p>\n<p>  Texas Hill Country flooding <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"KDFW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-94395e58=\"\">Dig deeper:<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">According to the National Weather Service, more than 28 inches of rain has fallen in parts of the Texas Hill Country over the past three days.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Between 9:45 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Thursday, the Guadalupe River rose more than 47 feet. The NWS predicted it would reach a crest similar to last year\u2019s catastrophic flooding.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/780333c9-41975572121-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" width=\"932\" height=\"524\" data-v-2fe2fe3e=\"\"\/>  <\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Across the Hill Country, nearly 150 people have been rescued, and more than 80 evacuations have been ordered, according to the Texas Game Wardens.<\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">The first responders are currently using boats and helicopters to reach people stranded by the dangerous rising water.<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/yhfqjnadvelasv7k.jpg\" alt=\"1 dead after catastrophic flooding in Kendall, Kerr counties\" class=\"sr-only\" data-v-892ef6a8=\"\"\/>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/yhfqjnadvelasv7k.jpg\" alt=\"1 dead after catastrophic flooding in Kendall, Kerr counties\" loading=\"eager\" fetchpriority=\"high\" class=\"vod-poster-image\" data-v-6546b402=\"\"\/>   <\/p>\n<p data-v-94395e58=\"\">Gov.
