The Gadsden Independent School District announces the selection of four educators who will serve in new campus leadership roles for the 2026\u20132027 school year. Together, these leaders bring decades of experience in instructional leadership, school improvement, bilingual education, teacher development, and student success.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese selections reflect our commitment to placing outstanding leaders in our schools,\u201d said Superintendent Nubia Tarazona. \u201cEach of these educators has demonstrated a deep commitment to students, families, and staff throughout their career. I am confident they will build on the strengths of their campuses, foster meaningful relationships, and continue creating learning environments where every student can thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dr. Miguel Serrano<\/p>\n
Principal, Berino Elementary School<\/p>\n
Dr. Miguel Serrano joins Berino Elementary School after a distinguished career spanning more than three decades in public education. His experience includes serving as a campus principal, chief human resources officer, chief operations officer, executive director, interim superintendent, and university instructor.<\/p>\n
Dr. Serrano earned a Doctor of Philosophy in teaching, learning, and culture and has dedicated his career to strengthening professional learning communities, improving student achievement, and building high-performing school systems.<\/p>\n
He is recognized for his servant leadership and collaborative approach to education and looks forward to partnering with students, staff, families, and the Berino community to foster academic excellence and a positive campus culture.<\/p>\n
Erika Rivera<\/p>\n
Principal, Desert Trail Elementary School<\/p>\n
Erika Rivera brings more than 20 years of educational experience to Desert Trail Elementary School. Her career has progressed from instructional assistant and classroom teacher to instructional coach and assistant principal, providing a broad understanding of elementary education.<\/p>\n
A National Board-Certified Teacher, Rivera is known for her collaborative leadership style, commitment to teacher development, and data-informed instructional practices. She believes every child deserves an outstanding education, every educator deserves meaningful support, and every family should feel welcomed as an essential partner in learning.<\/p>\n
Lidia T. Anguiano<\/p>\n
Principal, La Union Elementary School<\/p>\n
Lidia T. Anguiano brings extensive experience in bilingual education, instructional leadership, and campus administration. She has served as a classroom teacher, teacher leader, assistant principal, elementary principal, professional development consultant, and bilingual educator.<\/p>\n
Her leadership emphasizes continuous improvement, strong relationships, and high expectations for every student. She is committed to building a welcoming school community where students thrive, educators are empowered, and families remain active partners in learning.<\/p>\n
Veronica Lugo<\/p>\n
Assistant Principal, La Mesa Pre-K<\/p>\n
Veronica Lugo has dedicated her career to supporting bilingual education, literacy, professional learning, and instructional excellence throughout Gadsden ISD. She has served as a bilingual instructional specialist, coordinator of professional development, instructional coach, and classroom teacher while earning National Board Certification and an administrative license.<\/p>\n
Lugo has coordinated districtwide professional learning and supported dual language programs.
