\n\t\t\t\t\t\tAlabama has sent four swift water rescue teams to Texas in response to severe flooding after the state of Texas requested mutual aid from all states. “The state of Texas did a request to all the states asking for mutual aid assistance,” said Blake Farmer, director of the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency. Following the request, Governor Kay Ivey deployed the teams, which include personnel from Jefferson, Shelby, and Cullman counties. “The state of Alabama answered that by sending four teams,” Farmer said. Farmer explained that the teams will focus on rescuing people from flooded areas and transporting them to safety. “They will be doing rescues from flooded areas with boats and getting them back to some safe spot, wherever that might be. As far as the other, that’s kind of unknown until the guys get there,” he said. Farmer also highlighted the value of Alabama’s resources and the pride the teams take in their work. “It’s great that the state of Alabama has these resources scattered all the way from the tip top all the way to the south to the coastline, and when they’re not needed here locally, they’re available to be deployed outside of their local jurisdiction,” he said.\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
