A \u201cSuperman\u201d actor and former MLB all-star are teaming up for a new movie filming in Texas.<\/p>\n

In early June, JCFilms Studios announced<\/a> a faith-based movie called \u201cDinger Disciples,\u201d which is based on the real Waco baseball camp of the same name. The camp is founded by a couple of local dads, Reece Meador and Cody Holt, and just celebrated its second year, according to KWTX-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cDinger Disciples\u201d<\/a> will follow the two dads who combine baseball and the Bible into a \u201cpowerful ministry that now draws hundreds of young athletes each year.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman\u201d star Dean Cain will portray Meador and two-time MLB all-star (and former Texas Ranger) Jonathan Lucroy plays Holt. Former MLB player Aubrey Huff, who grew up in Mineral Wells, has a cameo in the film.<\/p>\n

Production on “Dinger Disciples\u201d got underway in early July<\/a> during the camp in Waco.<\/p>\n

The film will next move to Dallas and Bridgeport, W.Va. to complete scenes. No release date has been set for the feature.<\/p>\n

“Dinger Disciples\u201d is directed by JCFilms Studios president Jason Campbell, who shared the following statement in a press release:<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2019Dinger Disciples\u2019 is about far more than baseball,\u201d Campbell said. \u201cIt\u2019s about fathers and sons, mentors and coaches, second chances, and discovering that the greatest victory isn\u2019t hitting a home run\u2014it\u2019s finding hope in Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n
