The owner of Caracas Lat\u00edn Food restaurant, Jorge Luiz Vilchez Lopez, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Thursday, July 16, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).<\/p>\n
DHS said Vilchez Lopezentered the United States on a Visa and remained in the country after it expired in 2020.<\/p>\n
On July 16, ICE arrested Jorge Luis Vilchez Lopez, an illegal alien from Venezuela. He entered the U.S. on September 22, 2019 on a visa and overstayed the visa, which expired on March 21, 2020. <\/p>\n
ICE’s online detainee locator lists Vilchez Lopez as being held at the Otero County Processing Center in New Mexico.<\/p>\n
DHS said Vilchez’s case will be heard by a Justice Department immigration judge and that he will receive due process.<\/p>\n
In an Instagram post, Caracas Lat\u00edn Food told customers that Jorge is going through a “very difficult personal moment” and said it is hopeful that the matter will be resolved in his favor. The restaurant said it will continue operating during normal business hours.<\/p>\n
