The Dallas Wings held on to extend their winning streak on Sunday to six games and remain unbeaten in July after defeating the Los Angeles Sparks 90-82 at College Park Center in Arlington. Six games is the longest winning streak in franchise history.<\/p>\n

The Wings were in control of the game from the beginning, and were backed by a strong performance by Wings guard Paige Bueckers, who had 25 points in the win before she left with an apparent head injury late in the fourth quarter. Bueckers did not return against the Sparks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have an update, I know she was being evaluated. I went back to see her, she\u2019s seeing our doctors and we\u2019ll probably know more in the next couple of hours,\u201d Wings coach Jose Fernandez said.<\/p>\n

Here are three takeaways from Sunday\u2019s win.<\/p>\n

Paige Bueckers was in MVP form<\/p>\n

Bueckers has been carrying her weight for the Wings this season. Bueckers is averaging 23.6 points, 7.4 assists and 5.8 rebounds during the Wings\u2019 winning streak.<\/p>\n

Bueckers is also the reigning WNBA Western Conference Player of the Week from July 2-12, marking the first time she\u2019s been selected for the award.<\/p>\n

Sitting at second on Yahoo Sports\u2019 MVP ladder<\/a>, Bueckers is just behind Las Vegas Aces\u2019 forward A\u2019ja Wilson, who is the reigning MVP.<\/p>\n

Bueckers was selected as an All-Star captain for this year\u2019s All-Star game on July 25 in Chicago. She\u2019ll be leading team Coop in the game and her teammate, Wings\u2019 forward Jessica Sheppard, will be on team Spoon who is led by Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark.<\/p>\n

Bueckers exited the game against the Sparks after going down down holding her head following a collision with a Sparks player. The severity of the injury is currently unknown.<\/p>\n

Wings have to protect the glass<\/p>\n

Despite holding the Sparks to shooting just 30% from three, the Wings still had to scrape by. The Sparks shot just under 50% from the field, keeping the game close.<\/p>\n

The Wings were getting out rebounded by the Sparks on Sunday\u2019s game, an uncommon occurrence in a Wings win.<\/p>\n

The Sparks were able to continue to maintain control of the glass throughout the game, but the insertion of Wings center Li Yueru helped disrupt the Sparks\u2019 momentum.<\/p>\n

The Sparks weren\u2019t able to get easy layups and inside looks with Yueru in the paint. Yueru added four points and four rebounds in just nine minutes and helped flip the rebounding back in the Wings favor.<\/p>\n

Arike Ogunbowale is back to her normal scoring<\/p>\n

Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale had a rough stretch in scoring from June 22 to July 7, where she was averaging under 10 points a game in that stretch.<\/p>\n

Ogunbowale is back to her high scoring self, putting up a 20 point, 17 point and a 20 point performance in the past three games.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust getting downhill, doing whatever the team needs, and it\u2019s been getting downhill, so that\u2019s what I\u2019m trying to do,\u201d Ogunbowale said.<\/p>\n

When Ogunbowale is knocking down her shots, the attention is not all on Bueckers, allowing her to get more open looks.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Arike was really assertive down the stretch. Getting to the basket was big. I thought she was efficient today was well,\u201d Coach Fernandez said.<\/p>\n

The Wings have just two more games until the All-Star game, playing the New York Liberty on Monday night, a makeup from Friday after the Liberty\u2019s charter plane had mechanical issues. The Wings will then travel to Portland to play the Fire on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Fans tickets will still be honored after Friday\u2019s game got postponed, with tip off being at 7:00 p.m.<\/a> marking the first back-to-back game the Wings have played this season.<\/p>\n
