(KOLN) &#8211; Sydni Sherman is getting ready for a 14-hour trip; her car is packed and she\u2019s taken time off work, but this isn\u2019t a vacation for her. Rather, it\u2019s a trip to help others. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">At least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.1011now.com\/2026\/07\/16\/flash-flood-emergency-issued-camp-mystic-disaster-area-rivers-rise-southern-texas\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.1011now.com\/2026\/07\/16\/flash-flood-emergency-issued-camp-mystic-disaster-area-rivers-rise-southern-texas\/\">two people are dead<\/a> after the rain and flooding in central Texas, and Sherman is working to make a difference, with the help of some community members. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI wanted to do more and I thought I wish I could go down there and I did,\u201d Sherman said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sherman packed up her car with supplies that have been donated through a Facebook page called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/768148662553540\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/768148662553540\/\">Project Texas Flood Relief.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cSending money, thoughts and prayers and stuff just didn\u2019t feel like it was enough,\u201d Sherman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This isn\u2019t the first time she\u2019s made the trip to Texas to help clean up. Sherman went in summer 2025. This year she\u2019s heading down earlier with water and nonperishable foods. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt just sparked a passion for disaster relief and search and rescue and things like that that I didn\u2019t even know I had until I got that experience,\u201d Sherman said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sherman said those in Texas aren\u2019t in the cleanup phase yet, so right now they need essentials to get ready. She said seeing the community come together helped inspire her to go back. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThese people lost their houses,\u201d Sherman said. \u201cLost their loved ones and were still showing up for their neighbors \u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Sherman said she\u2019s used to helping others.
