at a luncheon sponsored by the Touchdown Club of Houston<\/a>, Sarkisian said \u201cthere\u2019s\u00a0a team in our state that plays in another conference that has a schedule that I would argue if I played with our twos and our threes, we could go undefeated, and they\u2019ll probably make the CFP this year.\u201d Sarkisian did not mention the team by name, but it was obvious he was referring to Texas Tech.<\/p>\n\u201cI said, there\u2019s no way they\u2019re talking about us,\u201d said McGuire, \u201cbecause Sark\u2019s a pretty tough guy, his teams are really tough, and I would think if he was talking about us he would call us out. Like he wouldn\u2019t just say this comment of \u2018well there\u2019s another team in our state.\u2019 So, I guess he was talking about us.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the time, McGuire said he would consider buyouts for non-conference games to allow Texas Tech and UT to play this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll buy our contract out of Abilene Christian,\u201d McGuire said. \u201cI\u2019m sure because Texas has a lot of money they can buy their contact out. But I do know there\u2019s a lot of Red Raiders that will help them buy that contract out if they don\u2019t want to and they can come to Lubbock in Week 1.
