WACO, Texas (KWTX) –<\/a> Criminal complaints and a superseding indictment filed in the Waco Division of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas reveal a planned robbery for THC vape products in Temple ended with a Salado teenager fatally shot and four men indicted in his death. <\/p>\n

KWTX has learned a federal grand jury indicted Colton Carter, Donivan Bynum, Davier Green and Manyiah Moore on a charge of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery. Murder charges have not yet been filed at the state or federal level.<\/p>\n

The indictment alleges the four men conspired on or about May 5, 2026 to steal property from 18-year-old Ember Henry, including vape cartridges containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). <\/p>\n

The court document further describes THC vape cartridges as a Schedule I controlled substance and alleges Henry was engaged in illegal distribution of controlled substances \u201cin interstate and foreign commerce\u201d and in an activity affecting commerce.<\/p>\n

According to criminal complaint affidavits, a Temple Police Department detective assigned as a task force officer with the FBI\u2019s Violent Crime Task Force was called at 7:38 a.m. May 6 to 1305 Paseo Del Oro in Temple to investigate the death of a young man whose body was found lying in a front porch.<\/p>\n

The victim was identified as Henry, of Salado, the affidavit states. Investigators said Henry suffered multiple gunshot wounds. They reported finding spent 9mm casings at the scene and said no gun was located.<\/p>\n

The affidavit also states officers found two marijuana vape pen containers on the victim that still contained marijuana.<\/p>\n

The detective treated the case as a possible homicide and began looking into reports of gunfire in the area the night before, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

The detective learned about a shots-fired call around 9:01 p.m. May 5 in the area.<\/p>\n

After that call, Temple police officers encountered two men running on foot nearby \u2014 identified as Carter and Bynum \u2014 about two houses away from the location where Henry\u2019s body was later found, according to the affidavit. Officers reported both appeared nervous, the affidavit states, and they were found on Calle Olmo. The two men were identified and released.<\/p>\n

After Henry was found dead, detectives later located and arrested Carter on May 6 on unrelated state charges, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n

During an interview, the affidavit alleges Carter told detectives he and Bynum had traveled to a residence on Calle Roble to \u201chang out,\u201d and that he was aware of a planned robbery targeting Henry for THC vape products.<\/p>\n

Carter told investigators two men he knew as \u201cD\u201d and \u201cMJ\u201d \u2014 later identified by Temple police as Green and Moore \u2014 planned to rob Henry at an abandoned house nearby, the affidavit states.<\/p>\n

The affidavit further alleges a witness told the investigator on May 12 that Moore, Green, Carter and Bynum were together when they were discussing the planned robbery, and that all four left afterward.<\/p>\n

An affidavit states Green gave a voluntary interview May 12 at the Temple Police Department. Green admitted he knew about the planned robbery and went with Carter and Bynum to the location where it occurred, the affidavit states. Green told investigators he remembered seeing a physical altercation on the front porch and then hearing gunshots before he fled on foot.<\/p>\n

Moore gave a voluntary interview May 13, the affidavit states, and told detectives he knew Carter was planning to \u201chit a lick,\u201d which investigators said is slang for committing a robbery. <\/p>\n

Moore admitted he went to the residence with Green, Carter and Bynum, the affidavit states. Moore told investigators he heard a knock at the door, heard screaming, and noticed Carter physically fighting with the victim before gunshots were fired, according to the affidavit. Moore said he fled on foot.<\/p>\n

The affidavit says Moore was arrested again on June 4 by Temple police on misdemeanor state charges. During an interview about the investigation, Moore admitted he had the \u201cvictim\u2019s gun\u201d after the shooting and said he dumped the gun in a city trash can in west Temple the day after the shooting.<\/p>\n

While the affidavits mention the \u201cvictim\u2019s gun,\u201d the documents fail to clarify whether Henry was in possession of the gun during his encounter with the four suspects, or whether one of the suspects disarmed Henry during the physical altercation that preceded his death.<\/p>\n

The affidavits also do not reveal who fired the rounds that mortally wounded Henry or exactly how the rounds were fired.<\/p>\n

The four suspects are in federal custody and no longer being held at the Bell County Jail. <\/p>\n
