A 79-year-old woman was killed in a crash in Arlington when the car she was riding in crashed into a tree on Sunday, police said.<\/p>\n
Arlington police officers responded about 11 a.m. to a single-vehicle crash in the 2600 block of New York Avenue, police said in a news release.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined that a 2019 Cadillac CT5 went off the roadway and collided with a tree in the median, police said.<\/p>\n
The driver of the Cadillac, a 66-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The 79-year-old passenger also was taken to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries.<\/p>\n
Police said the driver reported that she was traveling northbound along New York Avenue when another vehicle unexpectedly entered her lane of traffic, which led her to take evasive action that caused her to go off the roadway.<\/p>\n
The investigation is ongoing, according to police.<\/p>\n
