The returning starter joined Texas\u2019 notable rival in Norman after leaving Washington State shortly after the Pac-12 crumbled as a result of several conference realignment moves that were triggered after, perhaps ironically, Oklahoma and Texas joined the SEC in 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Mateer was seemingly eager to get another piece of the Longhorns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">Especially if he\u2019s lucky enough to be healthy at the time, unlike in last season\u2019s loss to Texas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">The Longhorns beat the Sooner 23-6 last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1upudxki _174s0un1 _174s0un0 _1mt21p01\">\u201cLooking forward to another opportunity [versus Texas],\u201d Mateer said, according to 247Sports. \u201cI mean, I\u2019m not going to sit here and make an excuse. We lost. I lost.
