EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 Crews from the El Paso Fire Department were sent to South Central Texas to help in flooded areas.<\/p>\n
According to the EPFD, the department’s Water Rescue Team has joined first responders from across the state to help in the search and rescue efforts in the Sonora, Texas area.<\/p>\n
Among the crew currently deployed to Fredericksburg are Incident Support Task Force Chief Rick Pando and Lead Planner Mario Ontiveros with the Office of Emergency Management.<\/p>\n
Pando is reviewing and assessing damages to prioritize areas most damaged, while Ontiveros is working as the Logistics Section Chief, helping manage resources and coordinate logistics.<\/p>\n

Greg Abbott surveyed flood-damaged communities in the Kerrville area by helicopter and later met with emergency management officials for updates on search and rescue operations, debris removal, infrastructure restoration and recovery efforts, according to a state press release. <\/p>\n “I want to thank all the first responders, volunteers, and our fellow Texans for the swift and effective response to the floods,” Abbott said. “We are now transitioning into the process of cleanup and rebuilding. The state is working with local officials to expedite debris removal and accelerate the rebuilding process. We have identified about 490 homes that sustained damage.
