Clark said the city’s parks department currently has no plans to develop the land.

The details

Two actions taken at the planning and zoning meeting have brought the Trails of Glenwood HOA a step closer to purchasing 0.5 acres of city land.

One item approved the request to rezone a total of 0.9 acres of land from agricultural to single-family residence. The second item combines a total of 1.6 acres from two plots of land into one.

“[The land] has been underused since 1999. It’s also isolated by Los Rios Boulevard and it does have a smaller size and unique shape,” Clark said.

Clark added that nearby parks like Cottonwood Creek, Timber Brook Park and the future Moore Park are still publicly accessible parks residents can use.

The background

The half-acre of city land was first annexed and zoned as agricultural in 1999, per city documents. The city acquired the land in 2003 as part of a 6.1-acre property and constructed Los Rios Boulevard in 2004 with a majority of the land.

The current private recreational facility next to the land was also annexed and zoned as agricultural in 1999, per city documents, and was rezoned as single-family residence in 2005. The current amenity center was approved in 2007 and constructed in 2008.

A portion of the city’s land was used to construct a basketball court next to the facility with the agreement that the HOA would maintain the land, according to the Trails of Glenwood website.

Future use of the land will be collectively decided by the homeowners of the community and purchased with $20,000 from the association’s reserves, according to the Trails of Glenwood.

Plano’s Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved rezoning for city land near Los Rios Boulevard to go to…

[15
134683,19044,134684,101487,160,162,161,74725,134682,134680,134681
post-381435","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-plano","tag-city-land","tag-city-of-plano","tag-construction-near-los-rios-boulevard","tag-los-rios-boulevard","tag-plano","tag-plano-headlines","tag-plano-news","tag-plano-planning-and-zoning","tag-recreation-facility-trails-of-glenwood","tag-trails-of-glenwood","tag-trails-of-glenwood-hoa
["GET
