{"id":382065,"date":"2026-07-22T06:50:33","date_gmt":"2026-07-22T06:50:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/382065\/"},"modified":"2026-07-22T06:50:33","modified_gmt":"2026-07-22T06:50:33","slug":"central-texas-couple-charged-after-baby-was-hospitalized-for-extreme-malnourishment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/382065\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Texas couple charged after baby was hospitalized for \u2018extreme malnourishment\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/kwtx.com\">GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) \u2014<\/a> Gatesville police said a 9-month-old child was taken to the hospital after officers responding to a welfare check observed signs of \u201cextreme malnourishment\u201d at a home Monday night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Officers were dispatched around 8:45 p.m. July 20 to the 100 block of North 27th Street after a caller reported concerns that the infant was not being cared for and appeared malnourished, according to the Gatesville Police Department. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Coryell Health EMS was called to the scene and transported the child to Baylor Scott &amp; White McLane Children\u2019s Medical Center in Temple.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Police said a Child Protective Services special investigator is working the case with the department. CPS took protective custody of the 9-month-old, and two other children in the home were placed with a relative.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">On Tuesday, July 21, Judge Coy Latham issued arrest warrants for both parents, police said. The mother, 23-year-old Jenny Sanchez, was arrested by Temple police at the children\u2019s hospital. The father, 22-year-old Adariance Rahman, was arrested by Gatesville police at the residence.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Both are charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury, a first-degree felony, and endangering a child, a second-degree felony.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Anyone with information is asked to contact the Gatesville Police Department at 254-865-2226.
