HOUSTON – Tropical Storm Bertha is slowly spinning across the Gulf of America as inches closer to Texas.<\/p>\n

The National Hurricane Center said Bertha is producing gusty winds and periods of heavy rain along the northern Gulf Coast between the Florida Panhandle and New Orleans.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tropical Storm and Coastal Flood alerts have been issued from Florida to Louisiana. There are no alerts related to Bertha in effect for Texas at this time.<\/p>\n

The forecast calls for Bertha to continue moving across the northern Gulf, putting it on track to be in the vicinity of Texas by later this week.<\/p>\n

Forecasters are already highlighting the possibility of heavy rain, especially along the coast, from Bertha as it moves inland. The Houston and Galveston areas are in a flood risk zone for Friday.<\/p>\n

Bertha is the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season.<\/p>\n

Texas was also impacted by this season\u2019s first named storm. Arthur brought heavy rain and gusty winds to the Texas Gulf Coast in mid-June.<\/p>\n
