Fort Worth\u2019s Cultural District is growing up. Literally.<\/p>\n
Construction cranes are bringing office towers to an area once dotted with auto body shops, small storefronts, and single family homes.<\/p>\n
The area once known for its popular bars and nightclubs is slated to become a place where people live and work rather than just play.<\/p>\n
Apartment buildings, office buildings, hotels, stores and restaurants are popping up in the district.<\/p>\n
An entirely new district is taking shape just north of West Seventh Street with the Westside Village development breaking ground in February.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s a look at what\u2019s popping up along West Seventh Street and what\u2019s coming to Fort Worth\u2019s Cultural District.<\/p>\n
The new towers<\/p>\n
Nebraska-based Goldenrod Companies is in the midst of building two mixed-use towers near the Artisan Circle development along West Seventh Street.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can\u2019t be more bullish on this neighborhood right here,\u201d former Goldenrod executive John Zogg said during an October 2023 meeting on the future of the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI think Texas is the best place to invest, and I think the best place to invest in Texas is Fort Worth,\u201d Zogg said.<\/p>\n The Fort Worth City Council approved a $31 million incentive package<\/a> for the company in that same month as part of an effort to bring more office development to the area at a time when West 7th was primarily known for its bars and nightclubs.<\/p>\n The company broke ground on the $183 million \u201cVan Zandt\u201d<\/a> in September 2025.<\/p>\n The eight-story building at 2816 W. Seventh St. is expected to contain 102,000 square feet of office space, 226 apartments and 11,000 square feet of shop and restaurant space.<\/p>\n The city incentive requires Goldenrod to complete the Van Zandt by the June 30, 2027. The city amended its 2023 agreement with Goldenrod in August 2024 to give the company more time to complete the project.<\/p>\n The building appears to be still in the framing stage with workers making adjustments to the concrete pylons as cars zip past.<\/p>\n A representative for Goldenrod did not respond to three emails from the Star-Telegram requesting comment.<\/p>\n Goldenrod\u2019s second tower project \u2014 One University \u2014 appears to still be in the early foundation stages.<\/p>\n The roughly 2.8 acre site at the corner of University Drive and Morton Street is expected to include a 10-story tower with a 176-room hotel and 259 apartments.<\/p>\n The development will also include a nine-story tower with a four story garage, and four stories of office space, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation<\/a>.<\/p>\n The One University development is expected to be completed by June 30, 2028.<\/p>\n Artisan Circle<\/p>\n In addition to its 2023 name change, Artisan Circle has been going through a renaissance with new stores, upgrades and a monthly marker series.<\/p>\n Tandy Leather relocated its flagship store to the district in December 2025, followed by a breakfast spot, Top of the Morning, and Irish pub, Henry McCarty\u2019s, which opened their doors roughly a month later.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have seen a lot of leasing activity at Artisan Circle and the Cultural District,\u201d said Elizabeth Corbell, senior property manager for Younger Partners, which manages Artisan Circle.<\/p>\n In addition to the new tenants, Younger Partners has been making improvements to the district\u2019s landscaping and the illuminated ring at the intersection of Crockett Street and Currie Street.<\/p>\n The upgrades to the ring will make it even more Instagrammable and more of a draw for visitors to Artisan Circle, Corbell said in a statement to the Star-Telegram.<\/p>\n The next Artisan Circle second Saturday market will be from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 8., followed by daytime markets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in September and October, according to information provided by Artisan Circle representatives.<\/p>\n The market usually features live music, local artisan vendors, and booths from shops throughout the district.<\/p>\n \u201cOur Artisan Circle street markets create excitement in the district, bringing in quality vendors and showcasing our tenants,\u201d Corbell said, adding the district has gotten positive responses from visitors and vendors.<\/p>\n The new village<\/p>\n A little more than half-a-mile north of West Seventh Street, an entirely new district is taking shape.<\/p>\n Westside Village, which broke ground in March 2026<\/a>, is expected to bring 37 acres of office, retail, and living space just northwest of the intersection of North University Drive and the recently renamed Westside Drive.<\/p>\n The Fort Worth City Council approved a $125 million incentive package<\/a> for the project in June 2025, followed by an October 2025 vote to rename the street in front of the development<\/a> in its honor.<\/p>\n The first phase of the $1.7 billion development includes a roughly 300-unit luxury apartment complex, 100,000 square feet of premium office space, shops, two restaurants, a private social club, and an underground jazz club, according to a February 2026 press release from Moss Construction.<\/p>\n It will also have a restaurant and fly fishing shop<\/a> on its northern border along the banks of the Trinity River.<\/p>\n When complete, the project is expected to have 880,000 square feet of office space, 238,000 square feet of shops, 1,785 residential units and a luxury hotel.<\/p>\n The new office space alone is expected to be the largest addition to the city\u2019s inventory in 43 years, said city economic development manager Michael Hennig in a June 2025 City Council work session.<\/p>\n![\"A](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/FTW_0714West7thDev.JPG\" "\\"FTW_0714West7thDev.JPG\\"")
