Citizen Scientists Help Conservation Efforts

The City Nature Challenge encourages people of all ages to document wildlife in their communities using the free iNaturalist mobile app.

Participants photograph wild plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms, then upload their observations, which are reviewed and identified by volunteers and experts.

This year’s challenge took place from April 24 through April 27, with submissions and species identifications continuing through May 10.

The event is co-organized by the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County.

Texas Nature Trackers Supports Local Effort
