Is this where we are in 2026? I know there is a culture war raging across the United States, but we\u2019re talking about Texas here \u2014 TEXAS.<\/p>\n
But let\u2019s back up for a second\u2026<\/p>\n
The college football playoff is the all consuming driver in the sport now. There\u2019s no way around it, and we have nothing to blame except for everyone. Conferences, networks, fans, coaches, politicians, alumni\u2026 everyone is to blame for trying to make the CFP bigger than the sport itself. We\u2019ve lost sight of what we are and what we have been for decades.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t get me wrong \u2014 I too enjoy the college football playoff, but not once have I ever uttered with meaning that it\u2019s more important than the season itself. There\u2019s a difference.<\/p>\n
Still, there is so much tied into the CFP that it\u2019s no big mystery as to why programs start doing stupid things \u2014 which brings me to the New Age Cowards. It doesn\u2019t matter of it\u2019s a southern California surfer bro or a Texas panhandle oil bro\u2026 the bros are running scared.<\/p>\n
The Texas Longhorns have made that perfectly clear by continually being skittish with any question concerning playing Notre Dame on a future schedule. Steve Sarkisian isn\u2019t even trying to puff his chest out \u2014 he\u2019s just saying they need to know that there won\u2019t be any consequences.<\/p>\n
I thought Texas was home to all of these tough people doing tough things in tough conditions and BOY YOU DON\u2019T KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BEING TOUGH CUZ YOU AIN\u2019T FROM TEXAS?<\/p>\n
But obviously that isn\u2019t the case. Texas is now as tough as California, and we should remind them of that every chance we can get. Texas isn\u2019t afraid to express their fears just like Southern California. I never would have guessed that the testosterone levels of both Texas and Southern Cal would be exactly the same, but this is 2026, and we\u2019ve hit a new low.<\/p>\n
There isn\u2019t an argument Steve Sarkisian can make that doesn\u2019t make him look like a coward in this situation, but at least he can always jump on the line with Lincoln Riley for moral support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Is this where we are in 2026?
