CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 Corpus Christi\u00a0is hosting the\u00a0Agriculture Teachers Association\u00a0of Texas conference\u00a0this week, bringing\u00a0together agriculture educators\u00a0and industry leaders\u00a0from across the\u00a0state.<\/p>\n

The conference began Monday and runs through Friday at the Hilliard Center. The event focuses on innovative teaching strategies, updated curriculum and industry certifications.<\/p>\n

Agriculture teachers are\u00a0also earning professional\u00a0education hours while\u00a0building connections designed\u00a0to strengthen agricultural\u00a0education.<\/p>\n

Ray Pieniazek, executive director of the Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas, said the conference brings together thousands of educators and students involved in agricultural education across the state.<\/p>\n

“We have a little over 300,000 ag students across the state with close to 2,600 teachers across the state. They teach anything from animal science, plant science, agricultural science. They are incorporating technology all the way from the shop to the classroom,” Pieniazek said.<\/p>\n

The teachers will take what they learn back to their classrooms ahead of the upcoming school year.<\/p>\n
