Arlington-based homebuilder D.R. Horton said Monday that there were some economic\u00a0headwinds in the market, but tariffs weren\u2019t expected to have an impact on the company.<\/p>\n

D.R. Horton, the largest homebuilder in Dallas-Fort Worth<\/a> as of 2025, held a quarterly earnings call<\/a> on Monday. Chief operating officer Michael Murray said containing costs is an ongoing battle and that there are some economic\u00a0headwinds, like higher fuel cost increases, but new tariffs wouldn\u2019t have a significant effect.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t believe the recently announced Canadian tariff changes are going to have a material impact on D.R. Horton and our footprint,\u201d Murray said.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n President Donald Trump imposed 50% tariffs on most Canadian goods<\/a> on Monday, which will take effect in late August. The U.S. had been maintaining tariffs on various items including a 35% tariff on Canadian softwood lumber.\u00a0<\/p>\n Canada accounts for roughly 85% of all U.S. softwood lumber imports, a key component in home building, according to the National Association of Home Builders<\/a>. U.S. tariffs and potential retaliatory tariffs could further change the price of lumber.<\/p>\n D.R. Horton is projecting 2026 revenue ranging from $32.5 billion to $33 billion, about a $1 billion to $1.5 billion decrease from last quarter\u2019s estimates. The company reported revenue of $9.2 billion for the quarter and said that sales were relatively in line with normal seasonality.<\/p>\n D.R. Horton had an average closing home price of $363,600 for the quarter, according to the report. The company had 38,000 homes in inventory at the end of the quarter, 23,300 of which were unsold.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWe recognize the current volatility and uncertainty in the broader economy, and we will remain agile and disciplined as we focus on enhancing the long-term value of D.R. Horton,\u201d said CEO Paul Romanowski.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Mixed-income apartments in North Dallas<\/p>\n Cypress Creek Montfort Drive\u00a0will include 168 apartments. Of those apartments, 116 will be income-restricted for residents earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income.<\/p>\n Jasmine Anwer<\/p>\n Developers Sycamore Development and Bonner Carrington announced the opening of a community of mixed-income apartments in North Dallas last week.<\/p>\n Cypress Creek Montfort Drive, at 14119 Montfort Drive, will include 168 apartments. Of those apartments, 116 will be income-restricted for residents earning between 30% and 80% of the area median income, according to a news release. The remaining 52 apartments will be offered at market rate. The Dallas-area median income<\/a> is $121,100, according to the Dallas Housing Authority.<\/p>\n Funding for the apartment development near the Galleria Dallas shopping mall\u00a0was supported by several federal and local programs,\u00a0according to the news release.\u00a0<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n Bonner Carrington<\/a> is an Austin-based company that has developed apartment buildings across Texas, including other mixed-income apartment buildings called Cypress Creek. Meanwhile, Sycamore Development<\/a> is a Dallas-based firm that redeveloped the Cabana<\/a>, a former hotel, into an apartment building and is engaged in projects that would transform sites such as the Magnolia Hotel.<\/p>\n Affordable housing is an investment in the future of North Dallas, said Sycamore Development principal Zachary Krochtengel in the news release.<\/p>\n \u201cBy providing attainable homes for residents of all income levels, we foster a stronger workforce, support local businesses and create inclusive communities where families can thrive for generations,\u201d Krochtengel said.<\/p>\n Land adjacent to Stockyards for sale<\/p>\n A 3.25-acre site adjacent to the Fort Worth Stockyards is for sale.<\/p>\n Article continues below this ad<\/p>\n The property at 319 N.E. 23rd St. is just south of the stockyards and sits between Joe T. Garcia\u2019s and Hotel Drover. Fort Worth-based Campana Realty is marketing the property. Airgas, a leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical and specialty gases, owns the parcel.<\/p>\n The site has flexible zoning and is being marketed for high-density restaurant and retail, hospitality, office or mixed-use development.
