{"id":385971,"date":"2026-07-25T04:16:08","date_gmt":"2026-07-25T04:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/385971\/"},"modified":"2026-07-25T04:16:08","modified_gmt":"2026-07-25T04:16:08","slug":"lamesa-police-seize-drugs-roosters-in-cockfighting-raid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/385971\/","title":{"rendered":"Lamesa police seize drugs, roosters in cockfighting raid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LAMESA, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; Lamesa Police Department detectives and officers executed a search warrant in the 900 block of North Avenue L on Friday as part of an investigation into alleged cockfighting activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">During the search, authorities seized approximately 90 roosters, cockfighting paraphernalia, 13 pounds of marijuana, 380 grams of methamphetamine, 16 grams of cocaine and $44,973 in U.S. currency.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">80-year-old Nancy Ortiz was charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 1, 4 grams to 200 grams), manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance (Penalty Group 1, 200 grams to 400 grams) and possession of marijuana (more than 5 pounds, less than 50 pounds).<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Ortiz was transported to the Dawson County Detention Center without incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Lamesa PD says the investigation remains open as detectives continue to investigate the organized criminal activity.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KCBD.
