{"id":387241,"date":"2026-07-26T20:58:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-26T20:58:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/387241\/"},"modified":"2026-07-26T20:58:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-26T20:58:13","slug":"tony-romo-withdraws-from-texas-state-open-in-tyler-after-drunk-driving-arrest-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/387241\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Romo withdraws from Texas State Open in Tyler after drunk driving arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">TYLER, Texas (KLTV) &#8211; Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has withdrawn from the 56th M&amp;P Group Texas State Open golf tournament, according to Cascades Country Club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Due to his withdrawal, the scheduled Q&amp;A for Monday has been canceled, a spokesperson for the country club wrote in an email.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAlthough we\u2019re disappointed he won\u2019t be joining us, we\u2019re still looking forward to an exciting week of competitive golf,\u201d the email read.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Romo, a color analyst for the lead NFL broadcast team on CBS, was arrested and released Friday in Milwaukee on a first-offense operating while intoxicated charge, according to ABC affiliate WISN.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested in Milwaukee on suspicion of...\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785099493_378_VL6HXWTNWNBWVJPITTKR4C2J5Y.png\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/>Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while intoxicated.(Milwaukee County Sheriff&#8217;s Office)<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">WISN reports that the arrest report says Romo was stopped around 8 p.m. Thursday while driving south on I-43 and performed poorly on field sobriety tests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Romo is a yearly contender in the tournament. Last year, he played two rounds, shooting a 69 in the first and a 76 in the second. That performance missed the cut to continue in the tournament.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Organized by the Northern Texas section of the PGA of America, the tournament has been held in Tyler since 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The 56th M&amp;P Group Texas State Open is set to tee off Monday and run through Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 KLTV.
