<\/p>\nCORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 The Corpus Christi\u00a0City Council spent\u00a0a second day\u00a0hearing testimony as\u00a0it considers whether\u00a0to remove Mayor\u00a0Paulette Guajardo from\u00a0office.<\/p>\n
The hearing stems\u00a0from a petition\u00a0tied to\u00a0the city’s investment\u00a0in the downtown\u00a0Homewood Suites project. Petitioners allege Guajardo\u00a0violated the City\u00a0Charter during the\u00a0approval process.<\/p>\n

Guajardo spent more\u00a0than\u00a0four hours on\u00a0the witness stand\u00a0answering questions from\u00a0the attorney representing\u00a0the petitioners.<\/p>\n
Petitioners also argue\u00a0that key documents\u00a0were altered before\u00a0they reached the\u00a0City Council. Guajardo\u00a0continues to deny\u00a0any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n
Before testimony resumed, members of the\u00a0public were given\u00a0an opportunity to\u00a0address the council.<\/p>\n
“This is not\u00a0being handled properly\u00a0in my opinion, and I would\u00a0please request that\u00a0y’all, you know, this isn’t, this\u00a0is bad for\u00a0Corpus Christi. It’s\u00a0been bad for\u00a0Corpus Christi,” Port\u00a0Aransas resident Cathy\u00a0Fulton said.<\/p>\n
The hearing is\u00a0scheduled to resume\u00a0Aug. 6.<\/p>\n
