{"id":387521,"date":"2026-07-27T09:50:27","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T09:50:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/387521\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T09:50:27","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T09:50:27","slug":"wfaa-hires-lubbock-tx-native-erin-heft-as-new-reporter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/387521\/","title":{"rendered":"WFAA hires Lubbock, TX native Erin Heft as new reporter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fort Worth<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wfaa.com\/article\/about-us\/team-bios\/erin-heft\/287-e1442b2b-ffba-46c3-81bb-4d6b71143842\">WFAA-TV\u2019s newest reporter<\/a> has some familiarity with the Lone Star state.<\/p>\n<p>Lubbock native <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"Follow nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/erinhefttv\/?hl=en\">Erin Heft<\/a> is joining the Dallas-based station after spending the last five years working for KCRA-TV in Sacramento, California. Heft began her new gig this week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new chapter begins today,\u201d Heft wrote in an Instagram post. \u201cI\u2019m incredibly honored to join this legendary team!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While born in Lubbock, Heft grew up across the country and abroad as the daughter of a U.S. Air Force pilot family.<\/p>\n<p>She graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. Heft previously worked as an on-field correspondent for the San Diego Padres\u2019 minor league club, Lake Elsinore Storm, and as an anchor for KXXV-TV in Central Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Heft joined Sacramento\u2019s KCRA-TV in 2021 and won a Northern California Emmy for her work covering a 2022 mass shooting that left six dead.
