<\/p>\nNearly 20 people have signed up so far as candidates in the Corpus Christi City Council election, including former council members, incumbents, past candidates and political newcomers.<\/p>\n
All nine seats on the council are up for election in November \u2014 mayor, three at-large representatives and five district representatives.<\/p>\n
All council members serve in two-year terms.<\/p>\n
At-large and district representatives earn $6,000 per year, and the mayor $9,000 per year.<\/p>\n

The filing period to apply for a place on the ballot<\/a> continues through 5 p.m. Aug. 17.<\/p>\n Early voting begins Oct. 19 and ends Oct. 30.
