<\/p>\nFORT SMITH, Ark. (KNWA\/KFTA) \u2014 Reports from both Fort Smith Police and U.S. Marshals Service on Sunday said Jasmine Ashanti Johnston, 20, was located in Houston, Texas, and taken into custody after running from a murder charge for nearly three weeks.<\/p>\n
According to police, Johnston was located by the U. S. Marshals (Gulf Coast Task Force) in Houston, Texas, on Sunday at Huckberry Park, where she was taken into custody.<\/p>\n
“This is what happens when federal, state and local agencies work together to keep our communities safe,” Chief Deputy U. S. Marshal Cory Thomas said.<\/p>\n

Johnston was the remaining at-large suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy on July 7 in the 5300 block of Elm Street in Fort Smith.<\/p>\n
Fort Smith police\u00a0obtained an arrest warrant<\/a>\u00a0July 8 through the Sebastian County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, formally charging Johnston with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.<\/p>\n On Friday, the U.S. Marshals Service for the Western District of Arkansas announced it was offering up to a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Johnston.<\/p>\n \u00a0U.S. Marshals offering $5k reward for info on Fort Smith murder suspect\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n There was no indication as to whether or not that money was rewarded in the statement from police.<\/p>\n
