The agenda focused on industrial growth, supply chain integration and investment opportunities across the Rio South Texas region and northern Mexico.

Luis Alberto González, director general of the San Luis Potosí Automotive Cluster, said BMW was preparing to begin electric-vehicle production at its facility. The production was shown in the cluster’s outlook for 2027.
González did not identify the electric models, production volume, or starting date during the first session.

BMW currently manufactures the 3 Series, 2 Series Coupé and M2 in San Luis Potosí, according to González. He said San Luis Potosí is the only location where BMW produces the M2. General Motors also operates an assembly plant in the state, where it manufactures the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. González said General Motors was not producing electric vehicles at its San Luis Potosí facility at the time of the presentation.

Ricardo Pérez Castillo. Photo by Texas Border Business.

González described San Luis Potosí as Mexico’s fifth-largest vehicle-producing state. Their products include tires, wiring harnesses, vehicle interiors, seating systems and other components. The supplier network also includes precision-machining and industrial-service companies.

The meeting included companies providing services for automotive production. Ricardo Jiménez, general director of Electrotecnia Plus, said his company provides industrial electrical engineering, construction, and maintenance services. Its U.S. operation installs and maintains industrial robots near Houston.
Ricardo Pérez Castillo represented Indutérmica, which specializes in energy efficiency for heat-treatment and curing equipment.

COSTEP presented Rio South Texas as a binational corridor served by ports, international bridges, railroads, and airports. The regional and cluster presentations situated electric-vehicle production within discussions of manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain connections.

See related stories:

Adam Gonzalez, chief executive officer of the Council for South Texas Economic Progress (COSTEP), presents Rio South Texas…

[6
83567,136648,3714,5749,136649,136650,437,36879,136651,3868,15275,1478,1468,136652,136653,1474,23073,27,81353,29,28,78275
post-387693","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-texas","tag-auto-parts","tag-automotive-cluster","tag-automotive-industry","tag-bmw","tag-costep","tag-cross-border-trade","tag-economic-development","tag-electric-vehicles","tag-industrial-robotics","tag-investment","tag-manufacturing","tag-mcallen","tag-mexico","tag-rio-south-texas","tag-san-luis-potosi","tag-south-texas","tag-supply-chain","tag-texas","tag-texas-border-business","tag-texas-headlines","tag-texas-news","tag-usmca
["GET
