A Texas-made film that won a Lone Star Film Festival prize releases next week.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue West\u201d<\/a> follows a small-town woman who is forced to break the law when she\u2019s in need of medical care in West Texas. The film will be available to rent or buy on video-on-demand services like Apple TV and Prime Video on Tuesday, July 28.<\/p>\n

The film stars Adrianne Palicki, who was just in North Texas<\/a> celebrating the 20th anniversary of the \u201cFriday Night Lights\u201d television series. \u201cE.T.\u201d star Henry Thomas also appears in \u201cDue West.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018Due West\u2019 sets summer release date<\/p>\n

\u201cDue West\u201d premiered at the Lone Star Film Festival in November 2025, and won the \u201cBest Texas Film\u201d prize.<\/p>\n

The Star-Telegram attended a screening<\/a> of the film and heard insights from writer-director Evan Miller, who is from Pampa, Texas. Miller wanted to make the movie in the actual locations of where the story is set, thus the production filmed scenes in the small Texas towns of Marfa, Alpine and Marathon.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were welcomed by that community to shoot there, as small town folks usually are welcoming,\u201d Miller said. \u201cCouldn\u2019t have asked for a better place to go shoot the movie.\u201d<\/p>\n
