{"id":388191,"date":"2026-07-27T21:22:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T21:22:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388191\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T21:22:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T21:22:14","slug":"xcel-energy-selects-proposed-portfolio-to-meet-texas-new-mexico-energy-needs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388191\/","title":{"rendered":"Xcel Energy selects proposed portfolio to meet Texas, New Mexico energy needs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) &#8211; Xcel Energy has selected a new portfolio for power generation projects to meet increasing needs in Texas and New Mexico. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Xcel says the portfolio includes 3,928 megawatts of resources expected to come online by 2030. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A news release states resources include five solar generation projects, a solar generation project with battery energy storage, four wind generation projects, and one natural gas generation project. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAfter evaluating more than 50 proposals, Xcel Energy selected the portfolio projected to deliver a strong balance of reliability, affordability, and long-term value for customers,\u201d according to a statement by Xcel. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The company says many of the projects aim to reduce exposure to fuel price volatility and support long-term affordability for customers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cEvery decision we make starts with our customers,\u201d said Brad Baldridge, interim president for Xcel Energy Texas, New Mexico. \u201cOur communities depend on reliable energy to support new growth, strengthen local economies and improve quality of life.
