{"id":388273,"date":"2026-07-27T22:35:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T22:35:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388273\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T22:35:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T22:35:14","slug":"lockheed-martin-awarded-largest-f-35-spare-parts-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388273\/","title":{"rendered":"Lockheed Martin awarded largest F-35 spare parts contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Department of War has awarded Lockheed Martin a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.war.gov\/News\/Contracts\/Contract\/Article\/4546541\/contracts-for-july-15-2026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$1.6 billion spare parts contract<\/a>, the largest such contract in the program\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p>The contract will procure spares for F-35 fighter jets and will deploy spare packages to the Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy, F-35 program partners and foreign military customers.<\/p>\n<p>A report released in June from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gao.gov\/assets\/gao-26-108113.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Government Accountability Office<\/a> found that only 25% of F-35 jets were considered fully mission capable, down from 38% in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Lockheed Martin said the company continues to partner with the Joint Program Office to ensure efficient and effective sustainment for F-35s.<\/p>\n<p>Previous F-35 spare parts agreements between Lockheed Martin and the Pentagon include contracts for $578 million in July 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.war.gov\/News\/Contracts\/Contract\/Article\/3921460\/contracts-for-sep-30-2024\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$348 million<\/a> in September 2022, and $<a href=\"https:\/\/www.war.gov\/News\/Contracts\/Contract\/Article\/3251958\/contracts-for-dec-20-2022\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">382 million<\/a> December 2022.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese investments support our efforts to improve mission capable rates and will help drive consistent demand for the global network of suppliers to better support the global F-35 fleet now and in the future,\u201d a Lockheed Martin spokesperson said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Work on the spare parts will be performed in Fort Worth, and is expected to be completed by September 2033.<\/p>\n<p>                <a href=\"https:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/profile\/315672317\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/>\n                        <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"author-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/STAFF_Maven_Navarro.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" alt=\"Profile Image of Maven Navarro\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n                    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>                <a class=\"author-name\" href=\"https:\/\/www.star-telegram.com\/profile\/315672317\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Maven Navarro<\/a><\/p>\n<p>                    Fort Worth Star-Telegram<\/p>\n<p>            Maven Navarro is a local news reporter at the Star-Telegram.
