{"id":388367,"date":"2026-07-27T23:48:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-27T23:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388367\/"},"modified":"2026-07-27T23:48:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-27T23:48:10","slug":"former-plano-elementary-teacher-accused-of-child-abuse-faces-more-child-indecency-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388367\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Plano elementary teacher accused of child abuse faces more child indecency charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/news\/plano-elementary-teacher-arrested-on-child-sex-abuse-charge\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-absolute=\"true\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Plano elementary school teacher is facing more charges<\/a> after being arrested on a charge of continuous abuse of a child, police said Monday.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/1785196090_45_paul-campbel.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"paul campbell \" height=\"775\" width=\"620\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                Plano Police Department<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/news\/plano-elementary-teacher-arrested-on-child-sex-abuse-charge\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Plano police said they arrested 64-year-old Campbell<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month after a student reported inappropriate physical contact while at Brinker Elementary, where Campbell had been a teacher for 28 years, the district said.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/news\/plano-teacher-child-sex-abuse-police-report-victims\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-absolute=\"true\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"> At least two 8-year-old girls said they were assaulted by the 2nd-grade teacher<\/a>, leading detectives to interview additional people to determine whether there may be more victims.<\/p>\n<p>Plano police said on Monday that investigators have obtained three more warrants for indecency with a child for Campbell.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We want to acknowledge the courage of the children who have come forward, as well as the strength and resiliency shown by their parents throughout this difficult process,&#8221; Plano police said in a statement. &#8220;We recognize that disclosure can take time, and that each victim and family makes decisions about participation at their own pace.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Plano PD said this investigation by the Special Victims Unit is ongoing and the Special Victims Unit tipline at 972\u2011941\u20112044 remains active.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/texas\/news\/plano-isd-teacher-accused-of-abuse-worked-more-than-25-years-police-seek-additional-victims\/\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Plano ISD\u00a0<\/a>trustees voted to terminate Campbell at a special-called meeting after his arrest.
