{"id":388708,"date":"2026-07-28T05:31:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T05:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388708\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T05:31:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T05:31:17","slug":"east-texas-cooling-centers-helping-respond-to-extreme-heat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/388708\/","title":{"rendered":"East Texas cooling centers helping respond to extreme heat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">TYLER, Texas (KLTV) &#8211; With temperatures hitting over 100 degrees, many East Texans are looking for ways to cool off. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">In Tyler, several city buildings are open during business hours for residents needing shelter. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI try and get everything done as early in the morning as possible,\u201d said Jerry Tillman,&#8221; who was cooling off inside the Tyler Library. \u201cAfter this, I\u2019ll probably take a nap because of the heat, but God is good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Shelters like the Salvation Army <a href=\"\" rel=\"\" title=\"\">are open<\/a> as cooling places. PATH (People Attempting to Help) is letting Tylerites use their lobby and get connected to their services. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe wait time is longer than we would like for it to be,\u201d said Andrea Wilson- Lobaugh, PATH\u2019s executive director. \u201cThe crowded waiting room is less ideal than we would like for it to be. But we are certainly here to serve the public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Below is a list of East Texas Cooling Centers, subject to business hours.
