Local Artists celebrate victory as Downtown Murals saved from State mandate<\/a><\/p>\nCasey Ortiz, general manager of BUS, said lot owners have partnered with outside operators in response to safety and maintenance concerns, especially during large events.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe lot is not owned by BUS, it has nothing to do with BUS,\u201d Ortiz said. \u201cWe\u2019ve had countless people get stuck, countless cars get towed because they were blocking everyone in, countless accidents. I can\u2019t even tell you — so many issues in there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ortiz said an incident during Margarita Fest downtown in May led to bar management contacting lot ownership about a change.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“This man hopped out of his truck, slashed — four to six tires on two different cars, and then romped the curb and left. The man was never caught,” Ortiz said. “We reached out to the owners, and they reached out to this company.”\u00a0<\/p>\n
Parking Management Company, headquartered in Nashville, manages several downtown lots, including sites along Shoreline Boulevard, Mesquite and Water Streets, and Hotel Place. According to the company\u2019s website, its dynamic pricing system allows parking rates to adjust automatically based on demand, time of day and nearby events.<\/p>\n
Crowds are expected to be larger Friday night with the return of ArtWalk and the official lighting of the Port of Corpus Christi’s Christmas tree at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n
PMC\u2019s lots use QR-code payment systems that display current pricing once scanned. Rates vary by location and are not posted online.<\/p>\n
Downtown Management District officials said private parking prices downtown are not set or regulated by the city.<\/p>\n
